Nelson Mandela: Dahlworthy

When they look back on our time and study the great ones, they will talk about Gandhi, MLK, and Mandela. Mandela died today at age 95.

Said President Obama, "The day he was released from prison it gave me a sense of what human beings can do when they're guided by their hopes and not by their fears. And like so many around the globe, I cannot fully imagine my own life without the example that Nelson Mandela set. And so long as I live, I will do what I can to learn from him."

Imagine that, letting our hopes--not fears--lead the way. My fear is that in a post-9/11 America, we are too often guided by just that, our fears. My fear is that we may have run out of great ones.

But I hear Obama's words and will fear not. O generation of hope, show us our new leaders. We have come so far in the fight for civil rights. Who will stand up next to lead us over the next mountain?

Nelson Mandela: Dahlworthy.
